Schiedamse Vest, Rotterdam
2008

The colorful ceramic sculpture refers to the fact that the Schiedamsevest was once part of Rotterdam’s defenses. In addition, the sculpture also refers to that which the city owes its fame and fortune for: the ports (in the shape of the sailor, called Ketelbinkie, after a famous early Dutch comic character). Commissioned by Wijkcentrum Cool on the initiative of entrepreneurs of the Schiedamsevest. Thanks to the project ‘Groene Duimen – Green thumbs’, Centrum Rotterdam Council and Stadswonen.
Production: Mothership
Pepijn made this sculpture at Struktuur 68, studio for Monumental Ceramics.
